Why Akathleptos?

Why Akathleptos? Because it means Uncontainable. God is infinite. Hence, the whole universe cannot contain Him. The term also refers to the incomprehensibility of God. No man can know everything about God. We can know Him personally but not exhaustively, not even in Heaven.

Why Patmos? Because the church is increasingly marginalized and exiled from the culture.

Why Pen-Names? So the focus is on the words and not who wrote them. We prefer to let what we say stand on its own merit. There is precedent in church history for this - i.e., the elusive identity of Ambrosiaster who wrote in the 4th century A.D.

“Truth is so obscured nowadays, and lies so well established, that unless we love the truth we shall never recognize it." Blaise Pascal

Why Most Americans Hold A Fantasy Worldview

A simple definition of "worldview" is the way one thinks about the world around them. A worldview is a mental model of reality — a framework of ideas & attitudes about the world, ourselves, and life, a comprehensive system of beliefs. Worldviews either conform to reality ... or don't. There are no gray areas, no in-between, no maybes. A worldview is either true or a figment of imagination.

The vast majority of Americans unfortunately hold a fictitious worldview that seriously departs from reality in at least one significant area (i.e., mankind, sin, God, marriage, sexuality, evil, etc.)

Why?

The answer is simple.

In this fallen world where both a powerful enemy and sin seek to blind us (2 Cor 4:4; Eph 4:17-19; John 3:19-20; etc.), cultivating a true worldview takes time and concerted effort. It does not happen automatically or naturally. Just as a working knowledge of a foreign language cannot be unconsciously assimilated, but must be gained through study, time, effort and practice - so too, a working knowledge of a true worldview requires the same. Immersing oneself in the foreign culture speeds up the acquisition of the language - so too, immersing oneself in the true church speeds up the acquisition of a true worldview.

On the other hand, cultivating a false worldview WILL happen "automatically" and "naturally" if one does nothing to deter it. Regrettably, the technology of the age exponentially speeds up the acquisition process with the constant exposure to delusional social media, an unending bombardment of liberal and secularized mass media, entertainment with no basis-in-reality, a political establishment that is the blind leading the blind, and a public education system that is increasingly the mouthpiece of social propaganda.

The consequences of a false worldview can be enormously devastating, leading to an Alice-In-Wonderland scenario where up becomes down, left becomes right, inside becomes out, north becomes south, and wrong becomes right. As more and more Americans fall deeper into the rabbit-hole, the distinction between them and those that hold fast the true worldview will grow wider and wider ... until the fabric of society is torn with catastrophic consequences.

Those who adhere to the one (and only) true worldview will be severely castigated by those holding the deluded worldviews, but should rejoice (Luke 6:22-23). By definition, insanity is the denial of reality. Sadly, despite the best efforts to free them, most that stubbornly cling to a fictitious worldview will never emerge from their lunacy and will ultimately suffer the eternal consequences of their mad fantasy (Matt 7:13).

On the other hand, those that are secure in the true worldview are gloriously and truly free ... forever. (John 8:32)
