Why Akathleptos?

Why Akathleptos? Because it means Uncontainable. God is infinite. Hence, the whole universe cannot contain Him. The term also refers to the incomprehensibility of God. No man can know everything about God. We can know Him personally but not exhaustively, not even in Heaven.

Why Patmos? Because the church is increasingly marginalized and exiled from the culture.

Why Pen-Names? So the focus is on the words and not who wrote them. We prefer to let what we say stand on its own merit. There is precedent in church history for this - i.e., the elusive identity of Ambrosiaster who wrote in the 4th century A.D.

Abortion industry moving from choice to coercion

One day after the Supreme Court struck down abortion-clinic regulations in Texas, the justices now refuse to hear a case challenging a Washington state law mandating that pharmacies dispense abortion-inducing drugs, a move that one pro-life leader says is the latest efforts by liberals to criminalize opposition to their agenda.

... “What this indicates is the ruling class, and the other members of the Supreme Court in particular, are willing to allow the conscience rights of Americans to be violated and obliterated when they don’t fit in with their particular political cup of tea,” said Americans United for Life Spokeswoman Kristi Hamrick.

... “It’s not merely that they didn’t want to sell these drugs. They’re going to be forced to facilitate ending human life through the sale of these drugs. This has implications for medical personnel and nurses who do not want to perform abortions,” said Hamrick.

Story is here.

Such An Attitude Is Idealistic Naivete

The spiritual darkness settling over the culture continues to intensify.

An Air Force colonel argued Monday in court that a half-dozen adultery charges against him should be thrown out because the military's law banning extramarital sex discriminates against heterosexuals. Col. Eugene Marcus Caughey is headed for an August court-martial on charges of rape, assault, taking a dirty selfie and the adultery counts. He was in court Monday for a formal reading of the charges and to argue pretrial motions. (Story is here.)

Meanwhile, two legal rulings reinforce the American court system’s growing determination that Christians must not be allowed, under threat of penalty and punishment, to live as they believe in business or in public life. Specifically, the U.S. Supreme Court left standing a lower court decision that Washington state pharmacists who are Christian must violate their faith in order to practice their profession by providing abortion pills on demand. The second decision came from a federal judge in Mississippi with a reputation for ruling against Christians who stated that county clerks in the state cannot use their own religious beliefs to excuse themselves from issuing marriage licenses to homosexual couples.

There are some Christians who argue that this is the "best" time for a Christian to be alive because powerful testimony is provided by the growing contrast between Christianity and an increasingly hedonistic culture. While there is some truth to that statement, such an attitude is idealistic naivete. Using that misguided logic, Christians suffering under the Islamic State must be even more "better off" than we are in the West.

There is a sobering passage in the New Testament:

But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these. (2 Tim 3:1-5, ESV).

The NIV translates the first verse saying there will be "There will be terrible times in the last days". The KJV translates it "in the last days perilous times shall come". The EXB translates it "In the last days there will be ·many troubles [ difficult/terrible times]".

Christians that fail to heed the gathering cultural storm clouds and the warnings of Scripture, are in for a rough time down the road. Almost 3 years ago (well before homosexuality became the darling stepchild of the progressives), I wrestled here with a difficult question. As I wrote then,

When does a Christian say "enough" and leave?

Some would argue that it is "never" time to leave and that Christians have an obligation to stay and be a witness (i.e., Dietrich Bonhoeffer who did not leave Nazi Germany during WW2 and was martyred for his faith.)  But to apply such a mandate carte blanche to every Christian in every situation is both unwise and unbiblical.  While there are obvious arguments for sometimes the need to stay as a witness, there are also some strong counter-arguments that at a certain point, it is time to leave - especially if others are involved for whom you are responsible (i.e., your children).

In 70 AD, Jerusalem was destroyed by the Roman legions of Titus after a devastating, protracted siege of the city.  Josephus records that more than 1,100,000 Jews were slaughtered and nearly 100,000 were taken captive.  Of those spared death: thousands were enslaved and sent to toil in the mines of Egypt, others were dispersed to arenas throughout the Empire to be butchered for the amusement of the public. The Temple's sacred relics were taken to Rome where they were displayed in celebration of the victory.  The Jewish temple was burned and completely destroyed.  Josephus also records that the famine was so severe during the Roman siege that mothers were reduced to eating the deceased remains of their own children.

Yet, the Roman historian Eusebius records that virtually all of the Christians fled Jerusalem before the Roman legions encircled the city:

"The whole body, however, of the church at Jerusalem, having been commanded by a divine revelation, given to men of approved piety there before the war, removed from the city, and dwelt at a certain town beyond the Jordan, called Pella. Here those that believed in Christ, having removed from Jerusalem, as if holy men had entirely abandoned the royal city itself, and the whole land of Judea; the divine justice, for their crimes against Christ and his apostles finally overtook them, totally destroying the whole generation of these evildoers form the earth." (Eusebius, 3:5.)

Epiphanius of Salamis records:

"The Nazoraean sect exists in Beroea near Coele Syria, in the Decapolis near the region of Pella, and in Bashan in the place called Cocaba, which in Hebrew is called Chochabe. That is where the sect began, when all the disciples were living in Pella after they moved from Jerusalem, since Christ told them to leave Jerusalem and withdraw because it was about to be besieged. For this reason they settled in Peraea and there, as I said, they lived. This is where the Nazoraean sect began." (Panarion 29:7:7-8)

"Their sect began after the capture of Jerusalem. For when all those who believed in Christ settled at that time for the most part in Peraea, in a city called Pella belonging to the Decapolis mentioned in the gospel, which is next to Batanaea and the land of Bashan, then they moved there and stayed.." (Panarion 30:2:7)

"For when the city was about to be captured and sacked by the Romans, all the disciples were warned beforehand by an angel to remove from the city, doomed as it was to utter destruction. On migrating from it they settled at Pella, the town already indicated, across the Jordan. It is said to belong to Decapolis " (On Weights and Measures 15)

In the Old Testament, Lot chose to stay in Sodom despite gross iniquity that ultimately resulted in the judgment of God.  As a result of his decision to stay, while he and his daughters were saved, they literally lost everything:  their possessions, his daughters lost their husbands and Lot lost his wife.  Why did Lot stay?  One can only surmise that Lot stayed because he did not want to give up the financial prosperity that he apparently enjoyed there.  Genesis 13 chronicles that Lot chose to live in the regions of Sodom because of the rich grassland that was there before the region was destroyed by God.  The New Testament records that Lot recognized the sin of the city and was distressed by it (2 Pet 2:7-8), but apparently not enough to leave.  Lot stayed - when he clearly should have left - and it cost him dearly.

The story of the most famous shipwreck of all - Titanic - is especially tragic when you understand that it did not carry sufficient lifeboats for everyone yet many of the launched lifeboats were not full as the majority of the passengers were initially reluctant to leave the warm, comfortable ocean liner for a rickety, open, small lifeboat adrift on a freezing ocean.  For instance, the first lifeboat to launch, Lifeboat 7 from the starboard side only carried 24 people, despite having a capacity of 65 (two additional people later transferred to Lifeboat 7 from Lifeboat 5). However, it was Lifeboat 1 that carried the fewest people - only seven crew and five passengers (a total of 12 people) despite having a capacity for 40.  Some 1500 perished when a significant number of those could have been saved had they recognized it was time to leave.

Unquestionably, the decision to leave can be difficult, especially if one has been there a long time - perhaps even their entire life.  But to simply accept a constantly deteriorating cultural environment without ever prayerfully considering if/when "it's time to go" is unwise.

Romans chapter 1 indicates that people (and by extension, cultures) can reach a point in their willful rebellion against God where He "lets them go" to bear the full fruit and consequence of their insurrection.  Noteworthy, it highlights homosexuality as a key signpost that a person/culture is in the endgame of their apostasy.  Unless God has clearly and unequivocally made clear in protracted prayer that one should stay, continuing to sojourn in such an environment is foolhardy - especially if one is responsible for others.

Even if the correct decision is to stay amidst a culture in free-fall deterioration, a wise Christian will make practical preparation (both physical and spiritual) to cope with the intensifying darkness and persecution. Ask the Christians living under the Islamic State.

In closing, Ps 37:1 exhorts that Christians, "Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong". We can experience the peace that passes understanding even in the most horrendous of circumstances.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think on these things.… (Phil 4:6-8, ESV)

7 Minutes Of Facts & Common Sense By A Virtual President

Finding Ourselves In A Moral Wilderness

A recently released Barna study here reveals that "cohabitation is the new norm. Shifting gender roles and expectations, the delay of marriage, and a secularizing culture are leading more American adults to believe that moving in together before tying the knot is a good idea. A recent Barna study asked Americans their views on cohabitation: the pros, cons, motivations, and effects of living together prior to marriage. Though its acceptance is widespread in American culture, there are still large pockets of resistance to this changing ethic among religious communities and those who adhere to more traditional values and premarital expectations. The majority of American adults believe cohabitation is generally a good idea. Two thirds of adults (65%) either strongly or somewhat agree that it’s a good idea to live with one’s significant other before getting married, compared to one-third (35%) who either strongly or somewhat disagree."

While the good news is that "practicing Christians (41%) are highly unlikely to believe cohabitation is a good idea",  the growing disparity between Christians and the culture points to a developing hostility on the part of the culture towards a group it finds increasingly on the other side of the fence with respect to moral issues. Indeed, the culture progressively discards the designation of "moral" to many issues commonly accepted as such just 30 years ago.

Christians find themselves in a moral wilderness.

Allan Bloom's 1987 book "The Closing of the American Mind" warned that the contemporary talk of “values” is what is left when the culture accepts the proposition that there is no genuine right or wrong. Moral issues are reduced to matters of personal preference and conviction. My “values” may not match your “values,” but we all must respect each other’s convictions equally in matters of common concern.

In 2004 Al Mohler insightfully observed,

The postmodern philosophers have undermined the very concept of morality, arguing that all moral systems are merely relics of the repressive past, put in place by oppressive forces. Since all truth–including moral claims–is socially constructed, postmodern humans are free to “deconstruct” these moral codes and find “values” within.

The loss of the nation’s moral center has been long in coming. The late Fredrick Moore Vinson, a former Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, declared before 1950 that “Nothing is more certain in modern society than the principle that there are no absolutes.” Coming from one who was then America’s foremost jurist, the statement was a dark prophecy of things to come.

No thinking person can ignore the massive and seemingly insoluble moral debates that plague our society and frame national debate. When the most basic issues of life, sexuality, family, marriage, and moral responsibility are up for grabs, the nation has reached a testing point of unprecedented proportions. Given the confusion, only the most radical relativist can celebrate our current state of moral affairs.

He prophetically went on to warn,

When the church joins in the affirmation that all moral issues are matters of purely individual concern, the salt has lost its savor. The reduction of morality to values was a hallmark of the 1980s, when progressivist educators pushed this agenda in the public schools. Throughout the educational world, “values clarification” exercises became the order of the day, with children and teenagers encouraged to invent their own individualistic systems of morality and to “develop” their own values. Since these are individually determined, no one can be right and no one can be wrong.

That generation of young people is now of voting age, and we can see the moral damage inflicted by those who instructed students to look only within themselves for a system of values, and to doubt or defy traditional morality. A generation raised in the incubator of moral relativism is groping for enduring truth in the moral wilderness.

Where does this lead? A set of sex education materials produced a few years ago by a major mainline Protestant denomination urged parents to respect the values of their young children, and to accept the fact that these may differ from their own. The material prepared for adolescents offers suggestions for dealing with parents whose values may seem too restrictive or outdated. The curriculum insulted and rejected the moral convictions of parents and urged teenagers to understand that their parents might well be hampered by hang-ups about sex.

When all talk is of values, it is obviously of little real moral value. This is a moral language and logic we cannot just adopt as our own. The morality revealed in the Bible is not a matter of mere personal values, but is the authoritative instruction for the moral life as defined by our Creator. Jesus, the prophets, and the apostles did not instruct God’s people to look within for a moral code that makes sense to us, but to follow the explicit moral commandments revealed in God’s Word. “There is a way which seems right to a man,” instructed Solomon, “but its end is the way of death.” [Prov. 14:12] So much for values clarification.

... If sin is defined in this debate as a mere violation of individual values, the word has lost its biblical meaning. Sin has meaning only when seen in the blinding light of a Holy God, against whom all have sinned. The church has been afforded an opportunity it must not squander. The gospel itself calls for moral witness. The church must be on the front lines of the moral crisis with a boldness to speak the truth in love–the only genuine value.

Mohler wrote these words in 2004. Sadly though, in the intervening years the church largely stood by with many pulpits silent as the culture descended into moral depravity. Instead of boldly engaging on the culture's front lines in a fierce battle at personal cost, most of us were content to idly twiddle our spiritual thumbs.

Man arrested for filming girls in Target dressing room

A man accused of videotaping young girls in a Target dressing room was arrested Thursday night in New Hampshire, according to Bedford police. Story is here. Anyone with a modicum of common sense could see this was inevitable with the implementation of Target's idiotic policy allowing anyone to use any bathroom/changing room of their choice. But apparently, common sense is absent among Target's corporate leadership. Earlier I write here about Target's insane policy bearing predictable fruit.

Religion of Peace: A Brief History of Islam

The Third Jihad - Radical Islam's Vision for America

Even A Broken Clock Is Right Twice A Day

Shane Idleman (pastor of Westside Christian Fellowship in Lancaster, CA) offers here seven traits of false teachers. In an era of diminishing truth with proliferating false teachers both inside and outside the church, his observations are both timely and pertinent. Drawing on Colin Smith's original article from the Gospel Coalition, Shane fleshes out the importance for believers to be discerning.

Wolves don’t often attack wolves, but they do go after sheep. They bring destructive teachings and lies into the church, often, by telling people what they want to hear (cf. Jeremiah 23). They provide layers of truth mixed with error, but even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Jesus said, “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits” (Matthew 7:15-16b).

“Beware” means to be on alert…to discern what is being said. False teachers take advantage of the fact that many people are not well educated in fundamental biblical truths. To detect a counterfeit, one must first know what the original looks like. It’s impossible to gain a clear picture of absolute truth without going directly to God’s Word. Unless one is firmly grounded in God’s Word and led by His Spirit, one can easily be led astray.

Wolves don’t advertise, instead, they “look” like sheep. False teachers aren’t dressed in red holding a pitchfork. They often look the same as everyone else. They subtly challenge the inerrancy and authority of Scripture, and they add to Salvation…it’s not in Christ alone. Legitimate teachers recognize the deity of Christ. False teachers promote salvation through works and not through faith alone. One must belong to their Society, Institution, or Church in order to be saved. This is a false gospel.

Jesus encourages His followers to be fruit inspectors.

Here are the 7 traits originally identified by Colin:
  1. Different Source (of the message)
  2. Different Message
  3. Different Position (that the message leaves the hearer in)
  4. Different Character (bad fruit in the life of the false teacher)
  5. Different Appeal (the false message appeals to sinful desires)
  6. Different Fruit (the false message produces bad fruit in the life of the hearer)
  7. Different End

What makes false teachers especially dangerous is their propensity to mix just enough truth with the error to make it attractive. As Shane says, even a broken clock is correct twice a day.

There's Always A Market For Snake Oil

Snake oil is an expression that originally referred to fraudulent health products or unproven medicine but has come to refer to any product with questionable or unverifiable quality or benefit. By extension, a snake oil salesman is someone who knowingly sells fraudulent goods or who is themselves a fraud, quack, or charlatan.

Dozens of people were burned this week at the "hot coals" walk that huckster Tony Robbins is known for (see here.) Robbins markets himself as the nation's "#1 Life & Business Strategist". He has garnered for himself an impressive client list that spans the political, sports as well as the glamour world. With no formal education, he became well known from his television infomercials and self-help books: "Unlimited Power", "Unleash the Power Within" and "Awaken the Giant Within." In 2007, he was named in Forbes magazine's "Celebrity 100" list. Forbes estimated that Robbins earned approximately US$30 million in that year.

No stranger to controversy, Robbins:
  • was charged by the Federal Trade Commission on misrepresentation of potential earnings to franchise investors.
  • was sued for copyright infringement and plagiarism.
  • One chapter of "Unlimited Power", called "Energy: The Fuel of Excellence", is dedicated to a discussion of health and energy. The National Council Against Health Fraud wrote a highly critical review of the chapter.
  • In July 2012, the San Jose Mercury News published a story reporting that multiple people had been burned and hospitalized during one of Robbins' firewalking events on July 19, 2012
  • Robbins divorced his first wife after 14 years of marriage and was accused of adultery before marrying another woman.
He uses "firewalking" (the act of walking barefoot over a bed of hot embers or stones) in his seminars to "push people through their fears." Firewalking has been practiced by many people and cultures in all parts of the world, with the earliest known reference dating back to Iron Age India – c. 1200 BC. Modern physics has explained the phenomenon, concluding that the amount of time the foot is in contact with the ground is not enough to induce a burn, combined with the fact that embers are not good conductors of heat.

Firewalking is frequently held to imply that the feat requires the aid of a supernatural force, strong faith, or on an individual's ability to focus on "mind over matter". Since the 20th century, this practice is often used in corporate and team-building seminars and self-help workshops as a "confidence-building exercise." It is foolishly dangerous with inherent risk:
  • People have burned their feet when they remained in the fire for too long, enabling the thermal conductivity of the embers to catch up
  • One is more likely to be burned when running through the embers since running pushes one's feet deeper into the embers, resulting in the top of the feet being burnt
  • Foreign objects in the embers may result in burns. Metal is especially dangerous since it has a high thermal conductivity
  • Embers which have not burned long enough can burn feet more quickly. Embers contain water, which increases their heat capacity as well as their thermal conductivity. The water must be evaporated already when the firewalk starts
  • Wet feet can cause embers to cling to them, increasing the exposure time
The Christian Research Institute has extensive analysis of Robbins here in an article entitled "Personal Power or Harmful Hedonism?"

What is the substance behind the teachings that draw throngs of adoring crowds to Anthony Robbins’s events? Are his ideas compatible with biblical theology? Are they logical and coherent? The remainder of this article will address two key foundations of his ideas (pain/pleasure and neurolinguistic techniques), as well as his views of truth, theism, and his firewalking practices.

... Given the lack of emphasis on truth and the variety of citations from contradictory religious sources, Robbins appears to be a religious pluralist. This means that he is not concerned with the truth or falsity of any particular religion, but instead seems to view all religions as valid so long as they “empower” and “strengthen” the adherent.

Robbins’s primary emphasis, however, comes across as sympathetic to Eastern religious ideas. Specific phrases and ideas are also reminiscent of “New Age” spirituality such as when he writes, “Your reality is the reality you create.”23 One of his Twitter posts quotes Taoist philosopher Lao-tzu: “There are many paths to enlightenment. Be sure to take one with a heart.”

Ron Rhodes has written of Robbins: “In his books he approvingly cites Eastern and New Age types like Marianne Williamson, Bernie Siegel, Deepak Chopra, Andrew Weil, Confucius, Mahatma Gandhi, Emmet Fox, and A Course in Miracles. Other New Age indicators involve his use of Native American chants, and his idea that mystical secrets locked in the right side of the brain can be unleashed using his techniques.”

Robbins’s religious eclecticism is also, as Rhodes observes, “in keeping with his New Age leanings. On a number of occasions, he acknowledges many ‘great teachers’—including Jesus, Buddha, Muhammad, Confucius, and Lao-Tzu.”

... For the Christian, firewalking for religious or motivational reasons is unnecessary. Our source of motivational ability is not within our own fallen nature, but in Christ.

... Tony Robbins comes across as an amiable, caring, and sincere individual. His Twitter posts, for instance, often convey joy, encouragement, and a delight in life. In addition, he is not a hoarder of his wealth, having established a variety of venues to offer philanthropic assistance in various forms. Neverthe less, good intentions, no matter how sincere, are not enough to outweigh serious logical and theological deficiencies. The foundational principles underlying his philosophy are on shaky ground, to say the least.

... The real giant within is not unbounded human potential, but our capacity to sin. What is the solution to our serious problem? It is not in us, but in Christ. As Paul wrote, “What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God— through Jesus Christ our Lord!” (Rom. 7:24–25).

"Recovering from the Recovery Movement"

More than 20 years ago, Ron Rhodes authored a superb article here entitled "Recovering from the Recovery Movement". At the time, he raised valid concerns with a burgeoning movement prone to identifying every behavioral problem as an "addiction."

Today recovery experts tell us that people with various behavioral problems are addicted to those behaviors. Hence, there are not only drug and alcohol addicts, but also sex addicts, love addicts, money addicts, shoplifting addicts, child abuse addicts, fast boat addicts, successful business addicts, religious addicts, and a host of others.

Such "addicts" are in need of "recovery," we are told, and the recovery industry has virtually exploded in the past decade.

Statistics reveal that between 1978 and 1984 private residential treatment centers increased by 350 percent in this country and case loads quadrupled. This was largely due to the marketing savvy of the recovery industry. As well, experts say that there are now as many as five hundred thousand self-help (recovery) group meetings every week in America.

Citing figures much higher than Hallmark's, an article entitled "Making Room for the Recovery Boom" in a recent issue of Library Journal reports that there are now 140 different kinds of support groups in this country with approximately 45 million members. Recovery is "everywhere," the Journal reports, and "there are a plethora of titles from publishers."

There are recovery groups for just about any problem one can imagine. Groups include Overeaters Anonymous, Sex Addicts Anonymous, Gamblers Anonymous, Spenders Anonymous, Debtors Anonymous, Fundamentalists Anonymous, Parents Anonymous, Child Abusers Anonymous, Workaholics Anonymous, Shoplifters Anonymous, Pills Anonymous, and Emotions Anonymous.

Many such groups teach those who attend that they are "diseased" by their addiction. Messies Anonymous, for example, teaches that messy housekeeping is a disease. Kleptomaniacs Anonymous teaches that stealing is a disease. Compulsive Shoppers Anonymous teaches that consumerism is a disease. Even Christian recovery writers speak of behavioral problems as "diseases."[5] Apparently, we live in a very sick society.

Rhodes documented an "exploding" recovery industry at the time. Now more than 20 years later, it is one of the most profitable heath care industries in the United States. In 2015, Forbes documented it as an astonishing $35 BILLION per year industry (see here.)

In the Forbes article, Dr. Lance Dodes (graduate of Harvard Medical School and Director of the Alcoholism Treatment Unit at Harvard’s McLean Hospital.) points out that only an abysmal 5-10% of drug addicts & alcoholics are helped by recovery programs based on AA's 12-Step program - upon which almost all residential treatment programs are based.

The quoted average price range for a 30-day “treatment plan” for centers belonging to the American Addiction Centers (AAC) [again ‒ revolving largely around AA] was an astounding $15,000 to $26,000.

Critiquing the dangerous propensity to label every behavioral disorder as an addiction, Ron Rhodes goes on to refer to an article on recovery in the New York Times cited the Psychiatric News, which said: "Addiction medicine is at risk of becoming the laughingstock of the medical community by forcing everything into a Procrustean model of addiction." Procrustes was a giant in Greek mythology who seized travelers and made them all fit in a bed, either by stretching them or cutting off their legs.

Rhodes goes on to warn,

Stanton Peele, in his book Diseasing of America: Addiction Treatment Out of Control, says that "disease definitions undermine the individual's obligation to control behavior and to answer for misconduct. They legitimatize, reinforce, and excuse the behaviors in question -- convincing people, contrary to all evidence, that their behavior is not their own."

... many Christian recovery writers have undiscerningly based much of their recovery model on assumptions rooted in the writings of humanistic and other secular psychologists -- including Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, Carl Rogers, Alfred Adler, William James, Erich Fromm, and Abraham Maslow.

... A serious problem I see with some who attend Christian recovery groups is that they come to consider the group a virtual replacement for the church, something that should never happen. An article on recovery in Christianity Today notes that "the problem comes when recovery from addictions becomes salvation in some final sense, and the therapy group becomes a church substitute." Such concerns are all the more urgent when we hear statements like that of psychologist Henry Cloud: "The recovery movement makes for a much more biblical church than we've seen so far."

For years, I've expressed concern that most of the evangelical church has bought into the deceitful "wisdom" of an industry fueled primarily by greed, that clearly contradicts Biblical revelation with respect to sin and its' solution (i.e., see here). Read what I wrote here last week about the church increasingly accepting the medicalization of moral issues.

The refusal to recognize the true source of a behavioral problem and deal with it head-on as a moral issue, almost guarantees failure. In so doing, the church surrenders the powerful weapon of truth and the liberating function of the gospel for a false, man-made illusion. It is no wonder that immorality has skyrocketed not only within the culture but in much of the church as well.

There Is No Limit To The Insanity

Maria Servold warns here that doctors, hospitals, and insurance companies may soon face lawsuits for treating male and female patients according to their biological sex, thanks to a health care rule finalized in May as part of the Affordable Care Act. On the same day President Barack Obama announced his controversial transgender school bathroom policy last month, a somewhat more sinister mandate was finalized by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) with consequences for health care providers, insurance companies, and American taxpayers.

... The regulations provide an example of how a doctor could discriminate against a transgender patient, Severino said. If two people are both candidates for a hysterectomy, one a woman with uterine cancer and the other a woman who wants fewer woman parts to look more like a man but is otherwise perfectly healthy, the doctor could be found to be discriminating against the second woman by choosing to treat the woman with cancer instead. The rule states all the second woman would need to attempt to force the surgeon to perform an elective hysterectomy is a note from a psychologist affirming her desire to become a man, Severino said.

... the regulations could open health-care professionals and insurers to extensive legal liability if they decline to provide or pay for sex transition treatments, even if they are deemed medically unnecessary or unwise.

There can be no question of the demonic power influencing Washington DC. Ephesians 6:12 educates us that this is ultimately a fierce battle in the spiritual realm. Increasingly powerful principalities at work in the Capitol explain why so many politicians seemingly change their perspective and priorities when they move to Washington. These entities are allowed to wreak havoc under the sovereign control of God because America is under divine judgment in accordance with Romans 1:18-32.

The Impossibility of Reforming Islam

Timothy Abraham, an ex-Muslim who is now a Christian, argues here with impeccable logic that it is quite impossible to reform Islam. His analysis is well worth reading in entirety.

With the escalating news of Islamic terrorism rampant all over the news media, Arab intelligentsia have expressed anxiety as well disenchantment with Islam as is in its current Orthodox form. A reformed Muslim feels the weight of embarrassment laid on him by the Islam of the Quran and so demands that Islam be re-imaged into modernity. A command of Mohammad to “kill the infidels” is rendered as “kill them” insofar as they attack you; “beat your wife” is also going to be rendered as “beat her on her buttocks with a feather”, and so on. They are desperate to save Islam from the quagmire it has eventually declined into in the 21st century.

... Traditional Islam appeals for the majority of Muslims, the common everyday people, while “modernist Islam” is so sophisticated that it appeals to the select few of Arab intelligentsia in the academic world. It is their fine brains which have creatively given birth to it. Reformed Islam holds a rag in hand in order to do some patch up work for traditional Islam. Yet, traditional Islam, founded as it is on the original sources of the Quran and the traditions of Mohammad, is insulted that somebody would dare to approach it with such a “rag” of reform.

... If Mohamed Arkoun is such a modernist of a Muslim thinker, why did his Islamic zeal heat up when he heard of Salman Rushdie’s blasphemous novel “Satanic Verses”, so much so that he asked that the blasphemer Rushdie be killed? No doubt, Islamic history seems to record, as long as he is loyal to Islam, those Islamic sentiments will come up in time and the spirit of Islam will kick in and take over the Muslim’s emotions, showing itself full scale. Soon, Islamic modernism would be supplanted by the passionate spirit of Jihad and the vengeance of an angry Allah. This modernism of Islam won’t last for too long, and sooner or later we are faced with the actual intolerant heart of the Islamic religion.

... To a Muslim, there is no way he would ever think of his Quran along the lines of “the Sabbath was made for man”. It is the other way around; man is a slave of Allah and, therefore, a slave to the rigid text of the Quran.

A Muslim wants to be “modern” and at the same time his religion tells him that a woman is half a man in inheritance, court witnessing, etc. His religion also tells him throughout the Quran to cut of the hand of a person who steals, administer a hundred lashes with a whip mercilessly to both the single woman and the single man who have sexual intercourse, and stone them to death if they are married. Should a Muslim obey his Quran or should he be a “modernist” and try to be a progressive?

... The Islamic law of apostasy is abrogated socially in Egypt, but when they are confronted with an actual case of conversion from Islam to Christianity, Baha’ism or whatever religion other than Islam, then the fervor of Islamic zeal boils up in their blood and they begin to demand that the apostate, murtad, be killed. They can't stand the idea of somebody choosing something else over Islam. The Islamic Law, shari’ah, is fundamentally based on the authoritative text of the Quran and confirmed by the Traditions of Mohammad. Islam is not some mystical form of New-Age spirituality, another type of spirituality existing in our world, but it is originally a political, state religion. The Quran intended for Islam to be nothing less than an ideology.

... Because I abandoned Islam and have my views on it, I, too am a blasphemer whose blood should be shed. This is now a Salafi Muslim that I found to be cheerful, genial-spirited and I was happy to get calls occasionally from him in Qassim, Saudi Arabia where he is currently teaching as a professor of Islamic theology. With such innocence he passively yielded to his Prophet, replying to me, “But such a person goes straight to Paradise after he is killed because he gets purged!” This is Islam, the religion of death, at its best: take people’s lives, deprive them of the God-given life, shed their blood under the pretext of purging them of sin, and after all that say, “oh, but they are going to Paradise!”

"Humanity May Be Alone In The Universe"

Writing from a purely secular perspective here, astrophysicist Ethan Siegel argues that we may well be alone in the cosmos.

There may never have been another intelligent, technologically advanced alien species in the entire history of the Universe. Last week, in the New York Times, scientist Adam Frank emphatically wrote that Yes, There Have Been Aliens, concluding that given all the potentially habitable worlds we know must be out there from our astrophysical discoveries, intelligent life must have arisen. What he fails to account for, however, is the magnitude of the unknowns that abiogenesis, evolution, long-term habitability and other factors bring into the equation. Although it’s true that there are an astronomical number of possibilities for intelligent, technologically advanced lifeforms, the huge uncertainties make it a very real possibility that humans are the only spacefaring aliens our Universe has ever known.

I agree with him for theological reasons. I've written before on this subject - i.e., here and here.

Three Questions for Moderate Muslims

Former DHS Official Exposes The U.S. Government's Submission To Islamic Jihad

This video is must-watching.

Philip Haney was a founding member of Department of Homeland Security. During his more than 12 years with that organization, Haney identified hundreds of terrorist threats, but rather than congratulating him for his work, politically appointed officials in the Obama administration ordered the modification or deletion of his records and launched investigations against him. His recently published book (see here) "See Something, Say Nothing: A Homeland Security Officer Exposes the Government's Submission to Jihad" exposes the corrupt alliance of the U.S. government with Islamic jihadists because of insane politically correct policies.

He is quite correct in that the strategy is not jihad - but Sharia (the implementation of Islamic law). Jihad is the ultimately the gateway to Sharia law and the abrogation of the U.S. constitution. He concludes that a spiritual revival is necessary.

Philip Haney studied Arabic culture and language while working as a scientist in the Middle East before becoming a founding member of the Department of Homeland Security in 2002 as a Customs & Border Protection agriculture officer. After advancing to an armed CBP officer where he served several tours of duty at the National Targeting Center near Washington, DC, where he quickly was promoted to its Advanced Targeting Team, an unprecedented accomplishment for an agent on temporary duty assignment. Haney won numerous awards and commendations from his superiors for meticulously compiling information and producing actionable reports that led to the identification of hundreds of terrorists. He specialized in Islamic theology and the strategy and tactics of the global Islamic movement. He retired in July 2015.

It's also clear that Islamic activists have penetrated the highest levels of U.S. government. Watch the follow-on video below:

“Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it.”

The United Arab Emirates’ ministerial cabinet lists the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as one of 83 proscribed terrorist organizations, along with the Taliban, al-Qaeda, and ISIS. This is surprising because the UAE authorities themselves have a record of promoting Islamism; because CAIR has a history of raising funds in the UAE; and because the UAE embassy in Washington had previously praised CAIR.

CAIR is the most active group promoting Islamism in the United States.

It apologizes for terrorist groups: Challenged repeatedly to denounce Hamas and Hezbollah as terrorist groups, CAIR denounces the acts of violence but not their sponsors.

Hamas, designated a terrorist organization by the U.S. and many other governments, indirectly created CAIR and the two groups remain tight. Examples: In 1994, CAIR head Nihad Awad publicly declared his support for Hamas; the Holy Land Foundation (HLF), a Hamas front group, contributed $5,000 to CAIR; in turn, CAIR exploited the 9/11 attacks to raise money for HLF; and, this past August, demonstrators at a CAIR-sponsored rally in Florida proclaimed “We are Hamas!”

CAIR initiated a libel lawsuit in 2004 over five statements by a group called Anti-CAIR. But two years later, CAIR settled the suit with prejudice (meaning that it cannot be reopened), implicitly acknowledging the accuracy of Anti-CAIR’s assertions, which included: “CAIR is a terrorist supporting front organization that is partially funded by terrorists”; “CAIR . . . is supported by terrorist supporting individuals, groups and countries”; “CAIR has proven links to, and was founded by, Islamic terrorists”; and “CAIR actively supports terrorists and terrorist supporting groups and nations.”

It includes individuals accused of terrorism: At least seven board members or staff at CAIR have been arrested, denied entry to the U.S., or were indicted on or pled guilty to (or were convicted of) terrorist charges: Siraj Wahhaj, Bassem Khafagi, Randall (“Ismail”) Royer, Ghassan Elashi, Rabih Haddad, Muthanna Al-Hanooti, and Nabil Sadoun.

It is in trouble law enforcement: Federal prosecutors in 2007 named CAIR (along with two other Islamic organizations) as “unindicted co-conspirators and/or joint venturers” in a criminal conspiracy to support Hamas financially. In 2008, the FBI ended contacts with CAIR because of concern about its continuing terrorist ties.

And yet, CAIR has the ear of and access to the highest levels of government, leading one to conclude that administration officials are either incredibly naïve, or they know exactly what they are doing. The latter seems far more probable.

Pamela Geller performs the politically incorrect crime of informing us here of the origin of the word "Islamophobia".

The very word “Islamophobia” is a fictional construct, as journalist Claire Berlinski explains, “The neologism ‘Islamophobia’ did not simply emerge ex nihilo. It was invented, deliberately, by a Muslim Brotherhood front organization, the International Institute for Islamic Thought, which is based in Northern Virginia….Abdur-Rahman Muhammad, a former member of the IIIT who has renounced the group in disgust, was an eyewitness to the creation of the word. ‘This loathsome term,’ he writes, ‘is nothing more than a thought-terminating cliche conceived in the bowels of Muslim think tanks for the purpose of beating down critics.’”

This report heralds CAIR’s new strategy. Its old strategy was demonizing and “delegitimizing” voices opposed to jihad terror, and they’re still doing that, trying to fool the public into thinking that “Islamophobes” represent a movement as ugly as the KKK.

But clearly that wasn’t enough for CAIR. Now they’re engaging more energetically than ever in deception, as evidenced by Saylor’s lies about sharia. They’re also standing with subversive groups such as the violent, terrorist-worshiping Black Lives Matter, and getting an ever-compliant media to cover their cynical media stunts, such as handing out water bottles in Flint, Michigan. They’re also working to “enhance public sector impact” by registering Muslims to vote and getting Muslims to run for office.

CAIR: cynical, deceptive, subversive, and insidious – with numerous lapdogs in the media eager to retail their lies not a week after scores of Americans were murdered in cold blood in the cause of Islam.

Ironically, if CAIR has its way and ultimately succeeds in Islamizing America, the elite liberals will find themselves first on the chopping block.

Chicago Reporter Tried To Buy A Gun To Prove How "Easy" It Is

As he reports here, a reporter for the Chicago Sun Times, Neil Steinberg, tried to buy an "evil black, scary gun" to prove how easy it is. (Read his article and note how ridiculously dramatic and over-the-top he is. Mainsteam media reporters almost never give you the simple facts without highly exaggerated embellishment). But after he filled out the paperwork and paid for his Smith & Wesson M & P 15 Sport II (nice gun!) there was a mandatory waiting period, during which his purchase was rejected by the gun dealer.

It turns out that Mr. Steinberg has "an admitted history of alcohol abuse, and a charge for domestic battery involving his wife.”

While Steinberg did fill out an ATF 4473, he didn’t lie on the form which asks the respondent if they have ever been *convicted* in a court of a domestic violence misdemeanor - apparently, Steinberg (part of the liberal elite) wasn’t convicted (even though you or I would have been convicted). He made a big deal about his arrest and his “come to Jesus” moment in the paper and in his book “Drunkard”. Because he doesn’t have a conviction, he also ironically has a Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card which was issued by the state of Illinois despite his record.

Steinberg didn’t pop hot on the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) check because he doesn’t have a conviction, and he didn’t lie on his ATF 4473.

BUT ..... everyone in Chicago knows about his escapades as a drunk and a wife beater because he wrote about it, the staff at the gun store knew about his past and they denied his purchase based on Steinberg’s own admissions in his writings about it. The firearms dealer has the final say in whether you get a gun or not and because of Steinberg’s local reputation, they decided not to take a chance on him.

After properly refusing to sell the reporter a gun, the gun store reported,

Mr. Steinberg was very aggressive on the phone with Sarah, insisting he was going to write that we denied him because he is a journalist. “Journalist” is not a protected class, BTW. We contacted his editor and said that, while we don’t normally provide a reason for a denial, in this case to correct the record before you publish, here’s why; we pasted a couple links of press accounts of his past behavior and his admission of same. He’s free to believe or disbelieve that’s why he was denied, but that *is* why he was denied. There was no “We’ll see you in court!!!!” type of language from us – we simply want to set the record straight. That it undermined his thesis and rendered the column incoherent isn’t really our problem, is it? Thanks for your support.

This story made my day.

Mr. Steinberg and the overwhelming majority of the rest of the liberal elite, don't seem to have a clue how out-of-touch with the real world they are.  Don't worry though. If things continue on their present course, they will all be harshly ravaged by reality.

"The Obama administration thinks they can magically make the Islamic threat disappear if they pretend it doesn’t exist"

The Justice Department replaced references to ‘Allah’ with ‘God’ in an edited transcript of the 911 call Orlando jihadi Omar Mateen made during the Pulse night club attack.

During the call, Omar Mateen made an Islamic prayer in which he said:

Praise be to Allah, and prayers as well as peace be upon the prophet of Allah [in Arabic]. I let you know, I’m in Orlando and I did the shootings.

In comparison, the edited DOJ transcript says:

Praise be to God, and prayers as well as peace be upon the prophet of God [in Arabic]. I let you know, I’m in Orlando and I did the shootings.

It’s comically obvious to everyone except the liberal elite intelligentsia that the Obama administration is doing everything possible it can to downplay the Islamic connection to the Orlando attack, all while demonizing Christians and lawful gun owners.

“His very first words are the Bismillah (Arabic: بسم الله‎‎, ‘In the name of Allah’), the Islamic prayer,” commentator Pamela Geller revealed. “It’s what terror-tied CAIR chants in every press conference and press release.”

“[The Obama administration] knew right away and they have been deceiving the American people ever since, protecting and defending the ideology they calls for our destruction.”

Jihadists must be laughing all the way to martyrdom.

(Update: under tremendous pressure and looking like fools, the DOJ released an uncensored transcript this afternoon. As usual, denying any responsibility, the White House said the decision was made solely by the Justice Department. And if you believe that, I've got a bridge in Brooklyn for sale ...)

To Remain Silent And Acquiesce Before Demonically Inspired and Empowered Authority Is To Invite Disaster

Here is the context of what you see in the video above (from Breitbart):

When a veteran started offering traditional remarks at a military flag-folding ceremony, several uniformed airmen assaulted him, dragging him out of the room because his remarks mentioned God. Now First Liberty Institute lawyers representing retired Senior Master Sergeant Oscar Rodriguez are demanding that the U.S. Air Force apologize and punish those responsible or face a federal civil-rights lawsuit.

For countless years, service members have given the “flag-folding speech” at military and civic events, including retirement ceremonies. Traditionally, this speech explains the colors, symbols, and history of the flag.

The flag-folding speech also contains several religious references, including, “Let us pray that God will reflect with admiration the willingness of one nation in her attempts to rid the world of tyranny, oppression, and misery. It is this one nation under God that we call, with honor, the United States of America.”

The speech closes with, “God bless our flag. God bless our troops. God bless America.”
In 2005, the Pentagon changed the speech to remove all references to the divine, substituting additional historical facts such as Neil Armstrong’s planting of an American flag on the moon in 1969. But many service members prefer the traditional speech and desire that version given at their own retirement celebrations.

Real persecution is on the horizon in this country for Christians unless we stand up and vigorously fight back legally for our vanishing rights ... and disobey when necessary. There is strong Biblical precedent in the book of Acts for what the church must do (i.e., Acts 5:29; Acts 16:35-38; Acts 22:25-29; Acts 23:17-23; Acts 25:8-11, etc.).

On a related not, Eric Metaxas warns (see here),

Americans today have become too complacent with their freedoms and are too willing to give up their ability to govern themselves. He argues that complacency displayed today towards the rights and responsibilities of Americans to hold their governments accountable will cause America, as the world knows it, to perish.

To remain silent and acquiesce before demonically inspired and empowered authority is to invite disaster and commit suicide. We can fight legally now in the courts and with civil disobedience - or we can literally fight tomorrow for our lives and those of our loved ones.

The choice is yours.

"It is not so difficult to pull an ideology apart when that ideology denies so much of what is known to be true"

Daniel Moody (an independent philosopher in Dorset, England) brilliantly exposes with flawless logic here transgenderism to be a fake legal construct.

Mythology tells us there is an area of the Atlantic Ocean called the Bermuda Triangle, within which ships and aircraft have been known to vanish without a trace. With transgenderism, all reason and logic disappears within what we might call the Gender Triangle. The Gender Triangle is that area enclosed by the relationships between three distinct models of gender—the social, medical and legal. As we shall see, these relationships are flawed beyond repair.

Consider too the glaring mismatch between New York City and Britain. In New York City we can now be fined $125,000 for “mis-pronouning” somebody. The British government instead intends to scrub gender markers from passports and other documents. Gender identity appears not to know what gender identity is: Is it something so sacred that a wrong word can cost us our livelihood? Or is it something that is of such little importance it does not even deserve a place on a job application form?

... what is the end result of permitting each of us to choose to have any legal identity? By bearing in mind the fact that everything-ness and nothing-ness are two sides of one coin, we can see that if everybody can be anybody then everybody has the same legal identity as everybody else—everybody’s legal identity is “any identity.” Come to think of it, this would explain the blank passports and the gender-neutral restrooms. Too much freedom turns out to be the same as no freedom at all.

... It is not so difficult to pull an ideology apart when that ideology denies so much of what is known to be true. Gender ideology comes apart at the junctures of society and medicine, society and law, and medicine and law. That’s three out of three.

... Transgenderism is an incoherent concept when thought of as a legally recognized medical condition, irrespective of whether we consider its origins to be physical or psychological. Likewise, the notion of gender identity makes no sense when seen as a social phenomenon that has made its way into law. No, the idea of hyper-fluid volatile legal identities becomes coherent only when the picture is reversed and we come to view the phenomenon as being a purely legal concept imposing itself upon society.

Watch The Demonic Behavior Of This Abortionist

A disturbing new video shows an abortionist get in the face of a sidewalk counselor, hold scissors at throat-level, and say he loves tearing babies apart in a guttural voice. Pro-life advocates have posted a one-minute-long excerpt of an exchange with Dr. Robert Santella outside his Family Planning Associates abortion facility on Miramar Road in San Diego to YouTube.

Santella's history shows a record of neglect that hurt women. In December 1983, the California State Board of Medical Quality Assurance suspended Dr. Santella's license for 60 days and put him on probation for five years after documenting that he injured three female patients and contributed to one mother having a miscarriage.

Abortion doctors invariably graduate at or near the bottom of their medical class and/or have been in trouble professionally, legally and ethically. They are almost always the bottom-of-the-barrel in terms of medical skill. Which partially explains why they end up as abortionists.

Reporter says firing AR-15 gave him ‘temporary form of PTSD’

The story here about a New York Daily News reporter's experience firing an AR-15 for the first time and being traumatized to the point of experiencing "temporary PTSD" is a great example of the fantasy bubble most progressive liberal elites live in. They don't have a clue what the real world is like. The reporter's column is here wherein he described the experience as "horrifying, menacing and very very loud".

The experience of firing 5.56 mm rounds from a semi-automatic rifle, which he likened to “a bazooka” — left him a shaken man.

“The recoil bruised my shoulder. The brass shell casings disoriented me as they flew past my face. The smell of sulfur and destruction made me sick. The explosions — loud like a bomb — gave me a temporary form of PTSD. For at least an hour after firing the gun just a few times, I was anxious and irritable,” he wrote Tuesday.

"Squeeze lightly on the trigger and the resulting explosion of firepower is humbling and deafening (even with ear protection).

The recoil bruised my shoulder, which can happen if you don't know what you're doing. The brass shell casings disoriented me as they flew past my face. The smell of sulfur and destruction made me sick. The explosions — loud like a bomb — gave me a temporary form of PTSD. For at least an hour after firing the gun just a few times, I was anxious and irritable."

His claim to experience PTSD is both laughable and insulting to combat veterans who paid a heavy price so that he might have the freedom to fire an AR-15 and then write a ludicrous article on his experience. (I might add that an AR-15 is an easy rifle to shoot with very mild recoil; that's why it's the preferred weapon for jihadists. It'a also why many women prefer it as the weapon of choice for home defense.) Mr. Kuntzman - along with the vast majority of his progressive liberal friends - live in a fantasy world disconnected from reality. Predictably, the testimonial of his traumatic experience, drew well-deserved ridicule from across the web.

“Hey there Cupcake!” reader Gary Haney wrote. “I have never subscribed to the idea of ‘gender confusion,’ but after reading your article on the AR-15, I’m a believer because there is no way you and I are the same gender.

The irony is that a common 30-06 deer rifle (capable of bringing down a Grizzly bear) is far more deadly with exponentially more destructive kinetic energy than an AR-15. But Mr. Kuntzman and his friends - dependent upon the elite media for their information -  would not know anything about that. In fact, they seem to know very little about the real world.

ISIS Beheads 4-Y-O Girl Then Forces Mother to Soak Hands in Daughter's Blood

Islamic State terrorists have beheaded a 4-year-old girl in the group's Syrian stronghold of Raqqa and forced her mother to soak her hands in her daughter's blood, an Iranian news outlet has reported.
A Syrian woman who recently escaped the wrath of IS (also known as ISIS, ISIL and Daesh) told the Tehran-based Al Alam International News Channel on the condition of anonymity about a terrifying incident that led to the decapitation of an innocent child.

"A mother told her 4-year daughter to go home and she refused and then the mother told her unintentionally 'go home and I swear to God that I will behead you if you don't,'" the woman recalled.

"And one of the ISIS members heard this and told the mother 'since you swore to God you should behead her,' but the mother strongly opposed."

After the mother refused to behead her daughter, the Syrian woman said IS militants took it upon themselves to execute the child.

"But they beheaded the little girl and soaked her mother's hands in her daughter's blood," she said.

Story is here.

In view of the well-documented brutality of ISIS, one might ask if the Islamic State represents true Islam. In light of the fact that Islamic armies over the centuries conquered nations across North Africa, into Europe, east to India, Southeast Asia, and Indonesia, north to Turkey, and northeast deep into Asia and Russia, one must engage in considerable theological and hermeneutical gymnastics in order to whitewash Islam as a “religion of peace.” [I am not implying that everyone who calls himself a Muslim is a terrorist. In reality, there are many kind, peaceful people around the world who consider themselves Muslims. However, peaceful Muslims are not following the Quran faithfully, because the Quran clearly commands its adherents to take up the sword and fight and kill non-Muslims.]

Within months of the Hijrah, Muhammad claimed to receive a revelation that amply clarifies the issue (Pickthall’s translation):

Now when ye meet in battle those who disbelieve, then it is smiting of the necks until, when ye have routed them, then making fast of bonds; and afterward either grace or ransom till the war lay down its burdens. That (is the ordinance). And if Allah willed He could have punished them (without you) but (thus it is ordained) that He may try some of you by means of others. And those who are slain in the way of Allah, He rendereth not their actions vain (Surah 47:4).

In his popular translation of the Quran, Muslim scholar Abdullah Yusuf Ali offered the following comment on this verse: “When once the fight (Jihad) is entered upon, carry it out with the utmost vigour, and strike home your blows at the most vital points (smite at their necks), both literally and figuratively. You cannot wage war with kid gloves” (1934, p. 1315,).

ISIS Muslims are simply following the teaching of the Quran regarding both their practice of beheading their enemies as well as their warfare.

In a section dealing with, among other subjects, jihad, the Quran is equally forthright in its sanction and promotion of violence:

Fight in the way of Allah against those who fight against you, but begin not hostilities. Lo! Allah loveth not aggressors. And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution is worse than slaughter. And fight not with them at the Inviolable Place of Worship until they first attack you there, but if they attack you (there) then slay them. Such is the reward of disbelievers. But if they desist, then lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. And fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah. But if they desist, then let there be no hostility except against wrongdoers. The forbidden month for the forbidden month, and forbidden things in retaliation. And one who attacketh you, attack him in like manner as he attacked you. Observe your duty to Allah, and know that Allah is with those who ward off (evil) (Surah 2:190-194).

Later in the same surah, Muhammad is chided by Allah for not fully embracing the necessity of warfare:

Warfare is ordained for you, though it is hateful unto you; but it may happen that ye hate a thing which is good for you, and it may happen that ye love a thing which is bad for you. Allah knoweth, ye know not. They question thee (O Muhammad) with regard to warfare in the sacred month. Say: Warfare therein is a great (transgression), but to turn (men) from the way of Allah, and to disbelieve in Him and in the Inviolable Place of Worship, and to expel his people thence, is a greater with Allah; for persecution is worse than killing. And they will not cease from fighting against you till they have made you renegades from your religion, if they can (Surah 2:216-217).

These, and several additional verses (see Miller, 2005), from the Quran verify that ISIS militants are merely following their reading of the Quran. Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) caliph Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi even called upon ISIS followers to unleash “volcanoes of jihad” (Cunningham, 2014).

ISIS represents historical Islam faithfully following the edicts of the Quran.

Target's Insane Policy Bearing Predictable Fruit

WARNING! Obscene Language - Viewer Discretion Advised
WARNING! Obscene Language - Viewer Discretion Advised

The video above is the tragic result of Target's insane policy which sexual predators gladly view as a license for open-hunting. Read here about the details. "She reported him to store management but was told that he had done nothing illegal." The man was identified by police as Jeffrey Polizzi. Polizzi has a previous conviction for video voyeurism. It happened in Yulee, Fl on 4/26/16. The man shown in the video is named Jeffrey Polizzi, who was convicted back in 2009 of voyeurism for attaching a camera to his shoe and filming women at a surf shop in Neptune Beach, Fl. As the article notes,

There is no telling how many women and girls he’s victimized during the two years between the separate encounters with Candace. However, Target just made it easier for him to access and film women with their current bathroom policies.

It's interesting to note that not a single person in Target attempted to help her. Welcome to the brave new world of liberal progressive relativism where apparently anything goes ... except of course any concept of Biblical morality and (God forbid) passing judgement.

Duh. Even an idiot could have seen this coming with Target's ludicrous policy of allowing men to use women's restrooms and bathrooms. But apparently, the cretin CEO of Target could not. Read here about men around the country snooping on teens in Target. (Of course, you will not hear about this on the progressive mainstream media.)

It’s an alarming trend that may have America’s dads and husbands standing watch outside their daughters’ and wives’ dressing rooms: Barely months after Target announced its plan to let men enter women’s facilities, teenage girls and women across America are catching creepy men secretly filming them while they change clothes.

New reports of Target’s peeping toms have surfaced in North Dakota, Massachusetts, Texas and Ohio.

According to a 16-year-old girl who visited a Target in Bismark, North Dakota, a man positioned a phone under her door with the camera facing up.

“When she walked out, the man entered a different dressing room,” reported WDAY-6 in Fargo, North Dakota.

The manager of the Target declined to comment on the incident, according to the station.

Bismarck police said the suspect is a white male, age 30 to 50, possible around six feet tall, with a muscular build and glasses.

Cops are asking for help finding another peeping tom in Revere, Massachusetts, who reportedly spied on a 17-year-old girl changing in a Target dressing room ....

Any self-respecting father, brother, husband or grandfather must now stand guard over his female loved one's using Target's restrooms and dressing rooms.

God help any male that I witness going into a woman's restroom - or acting like this creep. For I will not stand idly by.

Zootopian Propaganda

Last night, my wife and I watched the Disney animated feature "Zootopia". I don't care for Disney animated features but she had been wanting to watch it, so we viewed it together. At the conclusion, as the credits were rolling, she turned to me and offered an unsolicited comment, "It's sad when you can't even watch a children's film without being exposed to propaganda."

"Zootopia" is about two classes of animals seeking to live alongside each other - predators and prey animals. In the film, sometimes a predator goes "nuts" and seeks to kill the prey animals, causing a big problem in the animal society. But in the end, it's revealed the predators are not at fault at all; in fact an innocent-looking lamb was purposely causing the problem by cruelly injecting predators with a drug, making them crazy with aggression.

Translation - it's not the jihadist's fault; it's the victims that are causing jihadist violent behavior by their unjust actions and treatment of Muslims.

There is little doubt that Disney is pushing a liberal progressive agenda.

For example, "Gay Days" is an annual event at the Orlando theme park where tens of thousands of openly militant homosexuals pack the Disney parks. Many is the time a traditional family has saved up for a once-in-a-lifetime-trip for their kids and ignorantly shown up at Disney World the first week in June to traumatically experience this weeklong event. While not officially sponsoring the event, Disney welcomes the homosexuals with open arms and ignores any complaints by other park attendees.

The Disney Channel’s decision in 2014 to air its first TV show episode with a same-sex couple drew complaints from a group of parents concerned that it introduced “controversial topics that children are far too young to comprehend.” The controversial episode of “Good Luck Charlie,” aired Jan. 27 2014. It included a scene (video is above) in which two parents prepare for their daughter's friend to come over to play, while debating the name of the friend's mother. The child arrives at their house with two women, who proclaim that they are both the child's mothers. The characters in the episode do not seem surprised, leading critics to properly conclude that the show normalized same-sex parents. Former Disney star Miley Cyrus, whose increasingly raunchy performances provok controversy, had praised Disney for planning the episode.

“They control so much of what kids think!” she said on Twitter when the episode was first announced in June.

In fact, any proper examination of the Disney cultural machine will take you to some very dark corners of applied behavioral psychology. But Disney is by no means alone.

The U.S. military and Christianity are also favorite targets for progressives who make family movies, wrote Christian Toto at Human Events, citing, among others, DreamWorks Animation’s Monsters vs. Aliens and its character dubbed Gen. W.R. Monger.

“The general and his military pals cruelly hold the titular monsters in prison until they’re needed to save the day,"  Toto wrote. “All the film needs is to name-drop Gitmo and the effect would be complete.”

When it comes to proof of liberal propaganda in family films, though, many conservatives list as Exhibit A an unsuccessful, 2-year-old Lionsgate release called Battle for Terra.

“The key villain is – what else? – a very American looking general who quotes from the Bible,” Toto writes.

“Children should be off base for the industry’s thought police,” he says. “No such luck.”

“Films geared toward children contain left-leaning perspectives on the environment, big business and morality,” says Stephen Winzenburg, communications professor at Grand View College in Iowa and author of TV’s Greatest Sitcoms. “Tolerance of others is taught as the highest form of morality, while absolute right and wrong is ignored.”

In this day and age, it becomes more and more crucial that parents screen what their children are exposed to. The propaganda skills of modern organizations like Disney make Joseph Goebbels look positively primitive by comparison.

Evil Becomes Good and Good Becomes Evil

Jesus said, “For judgment I came into this world, that those who do not see may see, and those who see may become blind.” (John 9:39)

Claiming to be wise, they became fools (Rom 1:22)

Sean Davis notes here the willful defiance of the New York Times to acknowledge the jihadist motive of the Orlando shooter. As he says,

Here’s who the New York Times blames, in order: Republican politicians, Republican-led state legislatures, Republican governors, Republican federal lawmakers, Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell, Ted Cruz, North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant, anyone who believes in traditional marriage, anyone who’s ever voted to preserve traditional marriage, and anyone who has ever voted for anyone who believes in or has voted to preserve traditional marriage.

Just as a mentally ill conspiracy theorist can watch video of the moon landing and see nothing but government lies and Hollywood movie sets, the New York Times looks at the pool of blood spilled by an Islamic terrorist who pledged allegiance to the Islamic state and see’s nothing but the outline of the GOP elephant. Where you and I see a plane flying through the sky, the New York Times sees deadly chemtrails laced with Republican rhetoric. While you may think fluoridated water is good for your teeth, the New York Times is pretty convinced it’s a GOP plot to get a radical Islamist terrorist to shoot up a gay nightclub ...

Sean is echoing the Biblical warning that spiritual blindness is inevitable for those who reject the gospel. When a culture en masse abandons absolute truth, madness is inexorable. Evil becomes good and good becomes evil. Romans 1:21-32 is a blueprint for our culture as it accelerates into darkness.

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness (Isa 5:20)

Islam: What the West Needs to Know

(Tim Kennedy joined elite U.S. Special Forces in 2004, ultimately serving as a Green Beret. When the Army instituted a service-wide Combatives (hand-to-hand fighting) tournament in 2005, Kennedy entered and won the tournament in the Light Heavyweight division. He achieved this goal three years in a row. In 2007, he completed Ranger School and was assigned to the 7th Special Forces Group, where he served on Operational Detachments Alpha. During this time he was also a sniper, sniper instructor, and the principal combative instructor for C Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group. Kennedy deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom multiple times. Less than 2 weeks before the Orlando nightclub attack, he warned Americans to prepare for impending Jihadist attacks in the U.S. because politically-hamstrung law enforcement will not save you.)

This separate video, published in 2011 provides background on the true nature of Islam.

Remember the widely-touted study claiming “right-wingers” are a bigger threat than jihadis?

Robert Spencer reveals the inconvenient truth for us ...

Back in June 2015, the New America Foundation published a study that garnered enthusiastic international publicity, as it purported to demonstrate that “right-wing extremists” and “white supremacists” were a larger threat to the U.S. than Islamic jihadis. The mainstream media was thrilled. Mediaite crowed: “White Americans Are Biggest Terror Threat in U.S.” The New York Times exulted: “Homegrown Extremists Tied to Deadlier Toll Than Jihadists in U.S. Since 9/11.” The Huffington Post cheered: “White Supremacists More Dangerous To America Than Foreign Terrorists, Study Says.” NPR rejoiced: “Right-Wing Extremists More Dangerous Than Islamic Terrorists In U.S.” TruthDig was thrilled: “White Right-Wing Terrorists Are Biggest Threat to Americans, Study Finds.” And on and on.

The media delight stemmed from the fact that the study confirmed its biases and relentless endeavor to downplay and deny the jihad threat. Thus the New York Times and NPR and the rest were not in the least interested in the fact that the New America Foundation study was obviously skewed, as it was based on the number of those killed by jihadis and by right-wing extremists since September 12, 2001, leaving  out 9/11. The study also ignored the many, many foiled jihad plots, and the fact that jihadis are part of an international movement that has killed many thousands of people, while right-wingers and white supremacists are not. It stated that right-wing extremists had killed 48 people from September 12, 2001 to June 2015, while Islamic jihadists had killed only 26 people in the U.S. in that span. If 9/11 had been added, the tally would have been 3,032 killed by Islamic jihadists and 48 by purported right-wing extremists.

But all right, let’s play by the New America Foundation’s rules. Counting the Orlando jihad massacre, but leaving out 9/11 as the NAF study did, the death toll now stands at 76 killed by Islamic jihadis, and 48 by purported right-wing extremists (I repeat “purported” because to get to its count of 48, the NAF counted as “right-wing” attacks killings that were perpetrated by people who were obviously deranged psychopaths devoid of any ideology). Will the New York Times’ appalling Scott Shane now issue an amended report? Will NPR? Mediaite? HuffPo? Or any of the other “news” organizations that so enthusiastically propagated this false study in the summer of 2015?

I won’t be holding my breath.

Take The Red Pill And Accept Reality

The red pill and its opposite, the blue pill were popularized in the 1999 film The Matrix. In the film, the main character Neo is offered the choice between a red pill and a blue pill. The blue pill would allow him to remain in the fabricated reality of the Matrix, therefore living the "ignorance of illusion", while the red pill would lead to his escape from the Matrix and into the real world, therefore living the "truth of reality" even though it is a harsher, more difficult life.

Maajid Nawaz, a liberal Muslim, clears the air here by declaring "Admit It: These Terrorists Are Muslims." Even he's frustrated by a cowering, politically correct administration willfully living the ignorance of illusion.

Enough with the special pleading. Enough with the denial. Enough with the obfuscation.
The killer of Orlando was a homophobic Muslim extremist, inspired by an ideological take on my own religion, Islam. In just the first seven days of this holy month of Ramadan, various jihadists have carried out attacks in Tel Aviv, Baghdad, Damascus, Idlib, Beirut, Orlando, and now Paris.

This global jihadist insurgency threatens every corner of the world and has killed more Muslims than members any other faith. So why pretend it does not exist? Why shy away from calling it by name?

So far do many of us liberals go in denying the problem, that we’re happy to stigmatize other vulnerable minorities in the process. “He was not a Muslim, he was nothing but a mad lunatic,” we cry in exasperation. As if those with mental health issues are somehow automatically predisposed to murder, or immune to manipulation and exploitation by cynical Islamists and jihadists.

Then there’s that other old tactic to try and avoid discussing the Islamist ideology. “He wasn’t from the Muslim community,” we proclaim. “He was acting in isolation, a lone wolf.”

Apart from the fact that research highlights how incredibly rare it is for jihadists to act in a vacuum, we need look no further than the Orlando attacker Omar Mateen’s father, who praised the Taliban as “warriors” to realize this avoidance tactic for what it is. Clearly Omar Mateen had moved in an atmosphere that glorified jihadist ideology.

“But it must be foreign policy in Afghanistan,” we naively protest. Albeit better than China’s, Russia’s, Saudi Arabia’s, Iran’s and most other undemocratic countries in the world, yes our foreign and domestic policies have their flaws. But what did gays in the Pulse nightclub have to do with any of that? Or the gays that ISIS regularly throws off the tallest buildings in Syria, for that matter?

It is time that we liberals took the fabled red pill and accepted reality

Of course, the problem is that reality inevitably and rudely intrudes upon those who choose to live the ignorance of illusion. It happened in Paris and in Orlando and numerous other places. And it will undoubtedly happen again.
